WIN: Cuyama solar project
Update:
On September 9, 2014, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Cuyama Solar Project, Santa Barbara County's first utility-scale solar project. The Cuyama Solar Project will convert 327 acres of previously disturbed, over-drafted farmland in the Cuyama Valley into a solar facility that will generate enough power for 16,000 California homes and avoid the emissions of 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
More information about the project is available here: http://www.sbcountyplanning.org/energy/projects/CuyamaSolarArray.asp
Original Alert:
The Cuyama Solar Project is coming before the County Planning Commission Tuesday, July 22, 2014 and needs your support. The Cuyama Solar project will likely be Santa Barbara County’s best chance for a utility-scale solar energy facility and is the only major energy alternative to fossil fuel electrical generation currently pending in the County. The project will convert 327 acres of previously disturbed, over-drafted farmland in the Cuyama Valley into a solar facility that will generate enough power for 16,000 California homes and avoid the emissions of 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. CEC has thoroughly reviewed the Environmental Impact Report and actively supports the project.
You can act to support the project by testifying before the Planning Commission in Santa Maria on July 22, 2014:

*The project will most likely be heard midmorning after 10:00am.*
It’s important that we, the Santa Barbara County environmental community, demonstrate that we can say yes to responsible renewable energy development.
Thank you for your support.
