Our Partners

The Equitable Charging Access for Renters in the 805 region (E-CAR 805) Project is expanding access to affordable, convenient electric vehicle (EV) charging across Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties — making clean transportation a realistic option for renters and multifamily residents along the Central Coast.

Through collaboration with property owners, local partners, and community stakeholders, this program supports the installation of chargers in accessible multifamily and community locations, helping residents overcome barriers to home charging.

By increasing reliable charging options where people live, E-CAR 805 helps:

  • Reduce transportation costs

  • Improve local air quality

  • Ensure the transition to clean transportation is more equitable and accessible for all

About the E-Car 805 Project

The Equitable Charging Access for Renters in the 805 region (E-CAR 805) Project is a collaboration across Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties to expand EV charging access to multifamily housing along the Central Coast.

The California Energy Commission awarded $3,849,553 to E-CAR 805 through the REACH 2.0 program to expand electric vehicle charging access to multi-family housing along the Central Coast. E-CAR 805 will install 379 electric vehicle charging ports within a ¼ mile of multi-family residential sites to increase access to electric vehicle charging for renters.

The E-CAR 805 is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Invest (formerly known as Cap-and-Trade) dollars to work to fund projects that reduce harmful emissions, protect public health, strengthen local economies, and support natural environments. With a strong focus on communities most impacted by pollution and limited access to resources, California Climate Investments help build a more equitable and sustainable future.
