Announcing CEC’s 2021 Environmental Hero Annie Leonard
We are proud to announce Annie Leonard, Executive Director of Greenpeace USA, as the recipient of CEC's 2021 Environmental Hero Award. Her work exemplifies what it means to build the broad, boots-on-the-ground base of activism that we need to go all in together on the climate crisis. Read more in our press release.
Annie will join the festival on Saturday, April 24 to share insights into her vital work and accept the award in an interview with CEC CEO/Executive Director Sigrid Wright and UC Santa Barbara Dehlsen Chair of Environmental Studies, Director of the Global Environmental Justice Project, and CEC Board Member Dr. David N. Pellow.
Visit the Santa Barbara Earth Day website for our current festival lineup and to register to watch the free event online. Highlights include musical performances by Kenny Loggins and Glen Phillips, guest speakers Laura Capps, U.S. Congressman Salud Carbajal, and 2018 Environmental Hero Florencia Ramirez, and intimate conversations with climate leaders like former Schwarzenegger Administration cabinet member Terry Tamminen.
We hope you'll join us on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 22-24 to honor Annie for her bold climate action – and to #CelebrateClimateLeadership among our youth, community, and business leaders who are stepping up to do the critical work needed to combat the climate crisis.
Wishing you health,
