Bold, Timely Solutions That Can Inform COVID-19 Community Needs
Even though CEC’s latest Climate Resilience Roundtable on sea level rise and flooding was held just a few weeks ago, it seems lightyears away as we find ourselves propelled into yet another epic crisis – the COVID-19 pandemic.
And yet the relentless cycle of disasters also exposes our region's social, economic and environmental strengths and vulnerabilities – the exact type of community resilience these roundtables were designed to help us work toward together.
Resources to Inform COVID-19 Resilience Efforts
While sea level rise, fires and flooding might be the last things on your mind today, you might find some of the big, bold ideas and solutions that we've generated together over the past few months into an Opportunity Matrix to be powerful and relevant to our current public health crisis – such as strategies to protect agriculture lands as fire buffers while also for securing the local food system, or ensuring that we have outdoor spaces and beaches for solace.

Roundtable Next Steps & Goals
With the uncertainty of COVID-19 and its restrictions, we have postponed our next roundtable in the series so we can pivot to meet today’s most relevant needs. This includes identifying a new way to convene. We'll be in touch when we have our next gathering and engagement opportunities defined.
It is our hope that the Climate Resilience Roundtable series will serve as an incubator for critical community-generated resilience initiatives and projects that address local climate threats and social vulnerabilities. Thank you for thinking into this work with us, and we look forward to continuing the conversation.
